Aurora University

I wanted to inform you about our upcoming Freshman Fall Virtual Visit Day. I have attached a poster for you to share with your students! This virtual event will take place on Saturday, November 21, 2020, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (CDT) via Zoom. During the event, students will learn more about our programs and admission requirements. They will also be able to speak with AU professors during our virtual major exploration session.

We are hoping to make as many opportunities available for EAHS students. We are offering both in-person and virtual assistance during the week and even have evening hours available. College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Studies (ACES) – Throughout the spring, ACES student ambassadors and advisors are hosting small group sessions and customized virtual class visits to highlight our majors, career pathways, and student experiences. We’ll also show you around our favorite spots on campus. For more information as well as other virtual opportunities, visit our website. We’ll also be hosting Discovering STEM in ACES, a pre-college virtual program, this summer. Students will spend two weeks discovering their interests in STEM-based careers through virtual lab tours, lectures, and mini science demonstrations in the food, human, and environmental science fields at UIUC. We encourage rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors who rank in the top 25% of their class and have B grades to apply. College of Education – Education is hosting admitted webinars throughout the semester to share what it’s like to be an undergraduate in education. Each webinar will include a short presentation, with an opportunity to speak with students, an academic advisor, an assistant dean, or our undergraduate recruiter. We also continue to offer webinars for prospective students twice a week.

College of Fine & Applied Arts – Throughout the spring semester, FAA is offering a variety of virtual events for admitted students, as well as virtual presentations and unit meetings for prospective students. In addition, FAA is offering virtual summer opportunities for high school students who are interested in architecture, art and design, dance, music, and theatre.

School of Information Sciences – The School of Information Sciences is offering a Virtual Open House for both admitted and prospective students on Friday, April 2. This event will consist of several informative sessions with faculty, academic advisors, and career services staff. It will showcase how our iSchool promotes big thinking and bold action in addressing complex issues around information, technology, and people. Western Illinois University

Western Illinois University is a mid-sized state public institution. We have just shy of 7,500 students and have an average class size of 18. We are test optional, and students with a 2.75 gpa or higher (on a 4.0 scale) are automatically admitted. Student with a 3.3 gpa or higher are guaranteed an automatic merit scholarship, and anyone with a 3.0 gpa or higher can appeal to earn or increase their Western Commitment Scholarship.

Miami of Ohio’s Wiicinaakosioni Program Launches November 11, 2020

Miami University is launching a new program this fall: the Wiicinaakosioni Program.  The Wiicinaakosioni Program aims to provide high school seniors from underrepresented backgrounds and those with an appreciation for diversity, equity, and inclusion with a virtual introduction to Miami University and its place in the diversity, equity, and inclusion landscape. 

Through various recorded sessions and virtual live events, students will gain a fuller understanding of Miami’s commitment to an inclusive college experience. Additionally, students who successfully complete the program requirements will be eligible for additional scholarship consideration for Fall 2021 admission. I hope you’ll share this information with your students and encourage them to register.

Quincy University

We are a private, Catholic University based on Franciscan values. All faiths are welcome. Quincy University is a liberal arts institution, so we encourage the education of the whole person! We are smaller, about 1,100 students and a 14:1 student to faculty ratio. Quincy, Illinois is nestled right on the banks of the Mississippi river and is just a wonderful place to be. Miami of Ohio’s Wiicinaakosioni Program Launches November 11, 2020

Miami University is launching a new program this fall: the Wiicinaakosioni Program.  The Wiicinaakosioni Program aims to provide high school seniors from underrepresented backgrounds and those with an appreciation for diversity, equity, and inclusion with a virtual introduction to Miami University and its place in the diversity, equity, and inclusion landscape. 

Through various recorded sessions and virtual live events, students will gain a fuller understanding of Miami’s commitment to an inclusive college experience. Additionally, students who successfully complete the program requirements will be eligible for additional scholarship consideration for Fall 2021 admission. I hope you’ll share this information with your students and encourage them to register.

Illinois State University Conference for Future Teachers

Illinois State University is hosting, for high school students interested in a career in teaching, a virtual Future Teachers Conference: Teaching in the Moment and Beyond on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Registration is required and due by Thursday, November 5, 2020. There is no cost to attend.
