Clubs & Groups

Key Club is a community Service focused club. We participate in 1-2 events/activities each month, outside of school hours.

ECO club is for students who want to make a difference in the world by improving the environment. We are always looking for new projects to help with saving energy and reducing pollution.

Drama Club is open to all students who are interested in theatre – either onstage or backstage. This student organized club plans activities based on the current interests of the group, but always includes semester fieldtrips and our annual talent show. Acceptance into the International Thespian Society is optional, and is based on a participation point system. All students are welcome to join at any time.

Chess Team is open to all students and all ability levels, including those who have never played chess before.

Educators Rising is a club for students who are considering a career in education. We participate in local competitions with surrounding high schools, provide tutoring and volunteer opportunities, and discuss issues affecting education.

Newspaper Club: Students in newspaper club create content for our online school newspaper. Students take on roles as writers, editors, and photographers.

Yearbook

FCCLA/HERO: Compete in regional and state competitions. Cake or cookie decorating, fashion design, clothing construction, culinary. Demonstrations on cake decorating by trained chefs. Other activities: pumpkin carving for Halloween, bake sale, games and treats. Promoting sportsmanship and cooperating learning.

DECA: Learning about succeeding in the world of business, competitive events, fundraising, community service and social connections with the Chicago Bulls and White Sox

Speech Team: Any student is welcome to join! Public speaking, writing and acting are all skills we build on throughout the season. We are hoping to compete against other schools for the 2015 – 2016 school year!

Skills USA is a club that prepares students to become leaders in the workforce

Scholastic Bowl: Season is over half way over and we beat WEST! Meets are Saturdays and Thursdays after school

Chess Team is open to all students and all ability levels, including those who have never played chess before.

 EA ScholastiCats: Come join a team that answers questions about everything from history, math, science, and even pop culture!

Culinary club is limited to 32 students for meetings due to room size and ingredients required for each week. First come first served. Students can attend weekly or when they are able to. Attendance is not mandatory each week. This allows students to attend other clubs that they show an interest in on Tuesdays.

Bible Club is for students who want to build relationships, make a difference in the community, and gain knowledge about the Bible.  Anyone is welcome to come.  

Movie Club watches an exciting new movie each week. Movies are totally free. Students help pick the movies. Stick around afterward for a discussion. If you love movies, you’ve just found your new favorite club.

Anime Club members watch anime, read manga, compare drawing styles, and discuss how they fit into everyday culture.

Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) mission is to create an equal environment in the school, and to bring acceptance and tolerance, as well as end bullying on all levels, to ANY student. GSA is open to everyone, ALWAYS accepting new members, and is a place where everyone can be themselves and NEVER be judged.

Bilingual Honor Society is geared towards students in the Bilingual program but is open to all students who are Bilingual, or are learning a second language. We focus on raising awareness of Latino cultural traditions, fundraising, and volunteering in the community.

WEB DuBois African American Honor Society WEB DuBois honors the memory of Dr. William Edward Burghardt DuBois by:

• Promoting the pursuit of academic excellence and post-secondary opportunity ,
• Engaging in service to others,
• Recognizing the outstanding achievements of the Society’s members

Student Council Open to all grades, STUCO coordinates homecoming, spirit weeks, pep assemblies, blood drives, donation campaigns, rivalry activities, and is the umbrella structure for all other clubs in school. Board members are elected and there is a $500 annual scholarship for 1-2 members.

Senior Class Council Open only to seniors, S.C.C. plans graduation and prom activities, fundraises for the senior graduation party, and creates community service opportunities throughout Aurora. S.C.C. also takes an integral role in the graduation ceremony.

Sophomore Class Council Open to any sophomore student, sophomore class council helps with fundraising for class and school events and coordinates different community service activities.

National Honor Society (NHS) Membership by application & acceptance only. Applications open to sophomores & juniors in late February. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in academics, community service, leadership, and character.

Science National Honor Society (SciNHS) Membership by application & acceptance only. Typically, applications are available in March. Members must maintain a 3.0 overall GPA, a 3.5 Science GPA, and be enrolled in an Honors or AP science course.

Tri-M Club is the National Music Honor Society and is open to current band and choir students who have completed one year of high school music. Students must audition, meet grade point standards and be recommended by their teachers. Tri-M ushers at music events, performs community service and explores music majors and careers.

French Honor Society (SHF) is a nationally sponsored honor society for students in their 4th semester of French and beyond. Focuses on community service & spreading French cultural awareness to East High.

Mu Alpha Theta – Math Honor Society
