The State of Illinois has mandated that beginning with the current Senior Class of 2021, all students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Alternative Application for Financial Aid in order to meet graduation requirements. The FAFSA allows students to qualify for need-based financial assistance at the federal, state, and institutional level, which can make college an affordable option for all students and families. The Alternative Application allows undocumented and/or transgendered students to qualify for state aid through the Illinois RISE Act.
The Week of March 15th, EAHS is partnering with the Illinois Student Assistance Commission to encourage and provide the necessary support for each and every one of our graduating seniors and their families to file the FAFSA or the Alternative Application. Families that, for whatever reason, have elected not to file a FAFSA or Alternative Application must fill out a Non-Participation form in order for their student to graduate. Submitting a Non-Participation form does not preclude students or families from choosing to still fill out the FAFSA or Alternative Application at a later time should they change their mind.
As she has all year, our ISAC representative, and Tomcat alumna, Martha Gutierrez continues to make herself available to our students and families for all financial aid related questions and concerns.
