Tomcats bring home Crosstown trophyTomcats bring home Crosstown trophy

On January 21 at East High, the Tomcat boys basketball team presented Principal Jon Simpson with the Crosstown Trophy. The Tomcats defeated West Aurora 51-44 on Saturday, Jan. 18, as the two schools faced off for the 228th time.

On Tuesday morning, the first school day following the victory, Coach Rick Robinson led a group of players to the main office, where the trophy was shared.

“I am very happy we won and we now have the Crosstown Trophy on the East side of Aurora,” said Coach Robinson. “As you well know, the East side and West side players are friends, so it gives our boys bragging rights for a year.”

Coach Robinson added that this accomplishment was part of his three-year plan when he accepted the position as head boys basketball coach.

“The way the boys fought to get the win was extra special. Go Tomcats!”

Way to go, Tomcats! Congratulations to all the entire basketball team, to Coach Robinson and his staff!
