Valedictorian Addresses College-Bound StudentsValedictorian Addresses College-Bound Students

East Aurora’s Class of 2018 Valedictorian Sihguat Torres is headed to Stanford University next Fall to study Mechanical Engineering.  Before he went, he wanted to offer his support by giving two presentations in the EAHS College and Career Center; he provided one presentation to freshmen and sophomore students and one for juniors.  The freshman/sophomore presentation was created with a “what you could do now to be a candidate for a highly selective college” mindset and the junior presentation was designed to help students navigate the college application process.  Mr. Torres continued the tradition of the valedictorian offering mentorship that 2017 valedictorian Adrian Gonzalez started when he presented on the QuestBridge College Match program last year.  Torres attended this presentation last year and ended up earning the QuestBridge match scholarship this year.  Torres is working with the College and Career Counselor Andrew Rathje to set up one more presentation in the Fall before leaving officially beginning his Stanford education.
