January 12, 2023

NJROTC will host its 2nd Mega Meet this Saturday, January 14 starting at 8 am in the Fieldhouse. We will be hosting 13 schools from across Northern Illinois. Army, Air Force, and Navy JROTC traditions will be represented. There will be over 400 Cadets competing in over 10 different events. The ceremony will be held in the mid-afternoon. All are welcome to attend.

The TALENT SHOW IS COMING!
Yes, you heard correctly. The TALENT SHOW IS COMING.
This year’s talent show is scheduled for Friday, January 20th. You’ve got time during winter break to get YOUR ACT TOGETHER! See what I did there? Get you act together? It’s literal and figurative.
Anyway, The Talent Show is open for ALL current students to audition, and auditions will be held in January. Singers, dancers, jugglers, bands, and all other kinds of acts are welcome. See Mr. Wheeler for more information or go to www.TomcatTheatre.org

The Literary Magazine is accepting submissions for our yearly magazine! Submissions should be original work in the form of any of the following: poetry, short fiction, dramatic scene, a descriptive sketch, a personal essay, or spoken word. Any submissions will be published in our EA magazine, as well as submitted to the Literary Festival where you could win prizes for your work. Class of 2023, the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley Scholarship application has a December 9th deadline. Please do not miss this opportunity to qualify for over 200 local scholarships through one application! Any student with a GPA over 2.0 is potentially eligible. Counselors will be helping students complete their application for this as well as the Waubonsee Community Foundation scholarship during all lunch periods on Tuesday December 6 in the CCC.

Today our ISAC rep, Lauren Waitt, is available during all lunch periods in the College and Career Center. Also, Aurora University will be in the CCC during all lunch periods. This Tuesday Waubonsee Community College will be in the College and Career Center during all lunch periods. This Wednesday the U.S. Army will be visiting during all lunch periods outside of the cafeteria. Also, North Central College will be in the CCC during 4th and 5th period. Prism Concert
Calling all Christmas lovers – the annual East Aurora Prism Concert is right around the corner! This concert features every music student here at East High in an hour-long festival of holiday sounds and light, as well as a HUGE multimedia art gallery created by our best art students. It is one of the biggest events of the year here in Aurora, and you can get your FREE tickets now by scanning the QR code on the posters around school or by talking to a music teacher. Performances are Thursday, December 8 at 7pm and Saturday December 10 at 1pm. Tickets are going fast, get yours NOW!

Want to participate in a competitive team environment but sports aren’t really your thing? Check out the ScholastiCats – we compete against other Upstate Eight schools to answer questions about literature, art, math, science, social studies, and even random categories – can you believe we had a question asked about Wiz Khalifa before?

Attention: All girls who are interested or would like to try out for girls’ basketball. It’s now time to get registered and make sure you get that sports physical if you’ve not gotten it. To tryout you must register on 8to18 and have an updated sports physical on file with the athletic office by October 31, 2022. The first day of tryouts will be October 31, 2022 @ 3:35pm in the main gymnasium. All levels will meet there to start tryouts. Early and Priority deadlines for College Admission start on November 1. On Tuesday, October 25, Counselors will be assisting seniors in completing their Common Apps and other college applications in time for Early deadlines. All interested members of the Class of 2023 should bring their Chromebooks to the CCC during lunch periods on October 25 to receive assistance with this process. All seniors are welcome to get help with their applications, even if you are not specifically trying to hit early deadlines. The sooner you submit your applications the sooner you will start receiving admission and scholarship offers!

When she decides they need to go to a castle turned amusement park based on her favorite T.V. show, Loid has to pull some strings within his organization to make it happen. What’s the worst thing that could happen when real spies are undercover as park workers at an amusement park based on a fictional spy t.v. show? Come find out as the Anime Club continues on watching Spy X Family on Wednesdays from 3:20 to 4:30 in room 360.

Seal of Biliteracy
East Aurora High School students may now register to take the AAPPL assessment to earn the Seal of Biliteracy. East High students can register for the AAPPL exam by clicking on this link. Registration is open and the at-home testing will take place October 8th. To earn the Seal of Biliteracy, students must qualify in both English and another language. Students are welcome to register to take both the English and world language tests; to do so, they should complete the form once for each language. Seal of Biliteracy

The Tomcat College and Career Center is officially open for business. Every lunch period the CCC will be staffed by counselors to assist you in your post-secondary planning and search. Early and Priority deadlines for College Admission start on November 1. On Tuesday, October 25, Counselors will be assisting seniors in completing their Common Apps and other college applications in time for Early deadlines. All interested members of the Class of 2023 should bring their Chromebooks to the CCC during lunch periods on October 25 to receive assistance with this process. All seniors are welcome to get help with their applications, even if you are not specifically trying to hit early deadlines. The sooner you submit your applications the sooner you will start receiving admission and scholarship offers!

East Aurora High School students may now register to take the AAPPL assessment to earn the Seal of Biliteracy. East High students can register for the AAPPL exam by clicking on this link.
