My name is Jerry Cook, and I am excited to start my first year as the principal of “THE” East Aurora High School. Growing up in the Fox Valley and working in surrounding districts, I am familiar with East High and its rich history and tradition. Like Elgin, where I grew up and worked as a teacher, Aurora is a proud community filled with hard-working families who want the best opportunities for their children. Education is the great equalizer. Schools can provide tremendous opportunities for their students; a quality education can change lives. My goal is to partner with you to ensure that your child has the opportunity to learn in a safe, stimulating, and challenging environment and that they have the chance to fulfill their dreams. I only ask that you dream BIG!

I have been an educator for 28 years. Having taught Social Studies for 12 years, I greatly respect what our teachers do daily. My administrative experience includes being an assistant principal/dean of students, a high school principal at two other high schools, and the director of operations for Illinois’s largest high school district. My well-rounded experience will be an asset to our community. I aim to bring stability and continuity to this great high school so we can continue progressing on the great work our staff has done in the last several years.

I am excited to be a part of the school community here at East. I hope to see you at sporting and fine arts events, extra-curricular events, and in our building. Great things happen for our students when schools and parents work together. You are critical partners in your student’s success, and I want to know how we can better serve them. Mi nombre es Jerry Cook, y estoy emocionado de comenzar mi primer año como director de “LA” East Aurora High School. Al haber crecido en Fox Valley y trabajado en distritos de los alrededores, conozco bien East High y su rica historia y tradición. Al igual que Elgin, donde crecí y trabajé como maestro, Aurora es una comunidad orgullosa llena de familias trabajadoras que quieren las mejores oportunidades para sus hijos. La educación es el gran elemento de igualdad. Las escuelas pueden ofrecer enormes oportunidades a sus estudiantes; una educación de calidad puede cambiar vidas. Mi objetivo es colaborar con usted para garantizar que su hijo/a tenga la oportunidad de aprender en un ambiente seguro, estimulante y desafiante y que tenga la oportunidad de cumplir sus sueños. ¡Sólo les pido que sueñen en GRANDE!

He sido educador durante 28 años. Después de haber enseñado Estudios Sociales durante 12 años, respeto enormemente lo que nuestros maestros hacen a diario. Mi experiencia administrativa incluye haber sido subdirector/decano de estudiantes, director de dos escuelas preparatorias y director de operaciones del mayor distrito de escuelas preparatorias de Illinois. Mi vasta experiencia será un elemento valioso para nuestra comunidad. Mi objetivo es aportar estabilidad y continuidad a esta gran escuela preparatoria para que podamos seguir avanzando en el gran trabajo que nuestro personal ha realizado en los últimos años.

Estoy muy contento de formar parte de la comunidad escolar de East. Espero verlos en los eventos deportivos y de bellas artes, en los eventos extracurriculares y en nuestro edificio. Cuando las escuelas y los padres trabajan juntos, nuestros estudiantes consiguen grandes cosas. Ustedes son compañeros fundamentales en el éxito de sus estudiantes, y quiero saber cómo podemos servirles mejor.
