Aurora University Field TripExcursión a la Universidad de Aurora

Earlier this week, the East Aurora High School Counseling Department had the opportunity to take more than 50 Junior students to Aurora University (AU) for a visit. Aurora University is a four-year university located in the heart of Aurora. Founded in 1893, Aurora University is home to over 6,000 students, over 50 majors and minors, and 50 plus student organizations. During the visit, students were greeted by Haley Pessina-Butler, Associate Director of Freshmen Enrollment at Aurora University. She gave a presentation to our students regarding the admission requirements at AU. Students also learned about the variety of study abroad programs, student organizations, and support services the university has to offer. Our students then attended a student panel of current AU college students – some of whom were former EAHS Tomcats. The panel talked about the importance of stepping outside your comfort zone and seeking out resources when needed.

Afterwards, students got the chance to tour the campus with one of the student panelists. They got to see various landmarks on campus such as John C. Dunham Hall which is home to the Dunham School of Business and Public Policy. Students also got to see Eckhart Hall which houses the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid and the Office of Student Residence Life. The Crimi Auditorium, which is located within the Institute for Collaboration, is a modern 500-seat auditorium utilized for music performances and guest lectures.
