East Aurora School District 131 is pleased to announce that 34 students from the East Aurora High School graduating class of 2024 have been designated as Illinois State Scholars. The students were recognized at the EASD 131 School Board meeting on Monday, December 18 and parents were able to join them.
“We’re extremely proud of our East Aurora School District Illinois State Scholars. They are at the top of their class and have demonstrated that they can excel academically no matter their challenges,” said EASD 131 Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Norrell. “We would also like to recognize their families and our school administrators and staff for providing our students with the support they need to succeed and reach their full potential.”
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC), the state’s college access and financial aid agency, presents this important recognition of academic achievement to exceptional Illinois high school students annually. This year, nearly 16,700 honorees join the other outstanding students who have been honored since the designation was first introduced in 1958.
The following East Aurora High School students were named 2024-25 Illinois State Scholars (listed in alphabetical order):

“On behalf of ISAC, congratulations to all our Illinois State Scholars for their extraordinary academic achievements,” said ISAC Executive Director Eric Zarnikow. “These high school seniors managed through the personal and learning challenges of the pandemic for several years of high school, and their accomplishments reflect their passion and dedication to academic pursuits. We also want to acknowledge and thank families, counselors, educators, mentors, and communities for their encouragement and often invaluable support in helping students along each step of their educational path.”
The Illinois State Scholar designation is a non-monetary award. To help our college & career bound students, the East Aurora High School Counseling Department and the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will be hosting Financial Aid Information Nights in 2024 on January 18, February 15, March 14, April 18 and May 9, for students and parents to learn about the newly revised FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) process as well as the Illinois Alternative Application for Financial Aid. This information will ensure families are prepared when the application officially opens on December 31, 2023. The presentation will be offered in both Spanish and English. La Comisión de Asistencia Estudiantil de Illinois (ISAC, por sus siglas en inglés), la agencia estatal de acceso a universidades y ayuda financiera, presenta anualmente este prestigioso reconocimiento a los logros académicos de estudiantes excepcionales de preparatoria de Illinois. Este año, cerca de 16,700 galardonados se agregaron a la lista de estudiantes sobresalientes que han sido honrados desde que la designación fue introducida por primera vez en 1958.
