During this past Fall semester, students had the opportunity to tour the Waubonsee Community College and view various presentations on financial aid and admissions. This Spring, the East Aurora High School (EAHS) Counseling Department, in collaboration with Waubonsee Community College (WCC) planned several field trips in order to help students with the transition to college. These field trips allow students to begin or complete several registration steps.
Firstly, students are able to complete pre-registration. Pre-registration is a process where students view several video modules in order to understand how to register for classes, access vital student information, account for financial aid, and more. This step is critical in ensuring students have the requisite knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the logistics of attending college.
Secondly, students are able to begin placement testing. Placement testing involves students taking a test in one, two or three possible areas to determine appropriate course placement. Placement tests may be taken in either reading, writing and/or math. Students are evaluated for placement testing by a variety of factors such as their Senior course placement, high school GPA, and more.
