FAFSA Week of Action April 15-19Semana de acción de FAFSA del 15 al 19 de abril

This year the Department of Education released a revamped version of the Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA). The FAFSA remains a Illinois graduation requirement, Per information sent to schools by the White House:

“The U.S. Department of Education recently made transformational changes to the FAFSA form, an application that students and families need to complete to apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study funds, and loans. Completing and submitting the Better FAFSA form is free, takes many students under 30 minutes, and gives students access to the largest source of federal financial aid to help pay for higher education. The Better FAFSA ensures 665,000 more students will receive Federal Pell Grants to pay for college, and that more than 1.7 million additional students will receive the maximum Pell Grant.”

As always, East Aurora High School has partnered with the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) to create programming to assist our students and their families in completing this extremely important process. To that end, East Aurora High School is fully participating in the FAFSA Week of Action (April 15-19) to continue to encourage our students to file their forms. The schedule of events is as follows:

Monday, April 15

  • FAFSA/Financial Aid Support in the Tomcat College and Career Center (CCC) during all lunch periods, offered by ISAC representative Avalon Bruno

Tuesday, April 16
FAFSA Support and Completion Workshop hosted by EAHS/WCC High School Transition Advisor, Stephanie Valerio at WCC Downtown Aurora Campus (Room 160) at 5:30PM.

Wednesday, April 17

  • FAFSA Support offered in the CCC and at the Career Fair in the Fieldhouse

Thursday, April 18

Students that confirm their FAFSA completion over the course of this week will have the opportunity to have their names entered into a raffle, prizes for which will include free tickets to the Senior Overnight Six Flags event. 

Este año, el Departamento de Educación publicó una versión renovada de la Solicitud Gratuita de Asistencia Federal para Estudiantes (FAFSA). La FAFSA sigue siendo un requisito de graduación de Illinois, según la información enviada a las escuelas por la Casa Blanca:

“El Departamento de Educación de EE. UU. realizó recientemente cambios transformadores en el formulario FAFSA, una solicitud que los estudiantes y las familias deben completar para solicitar ayuda federal para estudiantes, como subvenciones federales, fondos de estudio y trabajo y préstamos. El calendario de eventos es el siguiente:

Lunes 15 de abril

FAFSA/Apoyo de ayuda financiera en Tomcat College and Career Center (CCC) durante todos los períodos de almuerzo, ofrecido por el representante de ISAC Avalon Bruno

Martes 16 de abril
Taller de apoyo y finalización de FAFSA organizado por la asesora de transición de escuelas secundarias de EAHS/WCC, Stephanie Valerio, en el campus de WCC Downtown Aurora (salón 160) a las 5:30 p.m.

miércoles 17 de abril

Apoyo FAFSA ofrecido en el CCC y en la Feria de Carreras en el Fieldhouse

Jueves 18 de abril

Taller nocturno para completar FAFSA/Ayuda financiera con asistencia de representantes de ISAC. El soporte se ofrece tanto en inglés como en español.

Los estudiantes que confirmen haber completado la FAFSA en el transcurso de esta semana tendrán la oportunidad de que sus nombres participen en una rifa, cuyos premios incluirán boletos gratis para el evento Senior Overnight Six Flags.
