The workshop, which will run from 6 pm until 8 pm, is intended to help students complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It will be open to both East Aurora High School and West Aurora High School students and families. Sessions in both English and Spanish will be offered. There is a separate link for each session; English and Spanish.
During each session financial aid experts from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) will be presenting and walking families through the FAFSA and the Alternative Application for students that do not qualify for the FAFSA*. Participating families should have already applied for a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID). Support for that process will be offered in the sessions, but it will more efficient for families if that step is completed in advance of the event.
The FAFSA is an online application that allows families and students to qualify for financial assistance for college in the 21/22 school year. The current FAFSA will be filled out using family financial/tax information from the 2019 calendar year. Starting with the Class of 2021, the state of Illinois has made FAFSA completion a requirement for graduation. Completion of the Alternative Application will also satisfy that requirement.
