From Classroom to Garage: EAHS Students Tackle Real Auto RepairsDesde el Salón de Clases Hasta el Taller: Los Estudiantes de EAHS Hacen Reparaciones Reales de Automóviles

East Aurora High School(EAHS) Automotive Shop students have been doing vehicle inspections, making oil changes, working on brakes, alignments, timing belts, checking engine lights and more since day one and averaging 1-3 live cars per day. This year has been non-stop and a great learning experience for everyone and the instructors are grateful that the EAHS staff has trusted their program with so many vehicles.

Antonio Davila, EAHS Automotive Instructor and an EAHS graduate from the Class of 2017, is super proud of his students. On the first day of school, his question to them was  “Why did you take this class?” The number of students that wrote that they are taking this class because they “want to learn how to fix cars to help their parents” is the reason why he wakes up every morning excited to see his students and have a great shop day. “I know their heart is in the right place and they show that every day with the amount of dedication and hard work displayed in our Auto Shop,” shared Davila. “I could not be happier to get a moment to recognize our students for their outstanding work.”

Their most recent project was taking a 5.3L V8 out of a Chevy Suburban and a 5-speed transmission from a Colorado to power their 1995 Nissan 240SX. Upon researching the parts needed for the swap and contacting ICT Billet, Davila got the great news that the much needed parts were going to be donated by the company. ICT Billet was impressed with the program, the projects they were working on and how the EAHS students had been working very hard on it all year. “We’re grateful to ICT Billet and everyone that has made this program a memorable and rewarding experience for our Auto Shop students,” expressed Davila. “The complete transformation of our 1995 Nissan 240SX shouldn’t take much longer and we couldn’t have done it without all of you.”

Los estudiantes del taller automotriz de East Aurora High School (EAHS) han estado realizando inspecciones de vehículos, cambios de aceite, trabajando en frenos, alineaciones, correas de distribución, revisando las luces del motor y más desde el primer día y con un promedio de 1 a 3 autos activos por día. Este año ha sido continuo y una gran experiencia de aprendizaje para todos y los instructores están agradecidos de que el personal de EAHS haya confiado tantos vehículos a su programa.

Antonio Dávila, instructor automotriz de EAHS y graduado de EAHS de la promoción de 2017, está muy orgulloso de sus estudiantes. El primer día de clases, su pregunta fue: “¿Por qué tomaron esta clase?” La cantidad de estudiantes que escribieron que están tomando esta clase porque “quieren aprender a arreglar autos para ayudar a sus padres” es la razón por la que se despierta cada mañana emocionado de ver a sus alumnos y tener un gran día de compras. “Sé que su corazón está en el lugar correcto y lo demuestran todos los días con la dedicación y el trabajo duro que se muestran en nuestro taller de automóviles”, compartió Dávila. “No podría estar más feliz de tener un momento para reconocer a nuestros estudiantes por su excelente trabajo”.

Su proyecto más reciente fue sacar un V8 de 5.3L de una Chevy Suburban y una transmisión de 5 velocidades de un Colorado para impulsar su Nissan 240SX de 1995. Al investigar las piezas necesarias para el intercambio y comunicarse con ICT Billet, Dávila recibió la gran noticia de que la empresa donaría las piezas tan necesarias. ICT Billet quedó impresionado con el programa, los proyectos en los que estaban trabajando y cómo los estudiantes de EAHS habían estado trabajando muy duro durante todo el año. “Estamos agradecidos con ICT Billet y con todos los que han hecho de este programa una experiencia memorable y gratificante para nuestros estudiantes de Auto Shop”, expresó Dávila. “La transformación completa de nuestro Nissan 240SX 1995 no debería llevar mucho más tiempo y no podríamos haberlo hecho sin todos ustedes”.
