Memorial Unveiling for East Aurora VeteransInauguración del Monumento a los Veteranos de East Aurora

Pete really loved his uncle and wanted to make sure that he and other veterans that sacrificed their lives were always remembered.

On Thursday, November 9, EASD 131 unveiled a memorial honoring East Aurora Veterans who gave their lives fighting for our freedom. This memorial was inspired by Pete Andrews, whose uncle, Peter N. Andrews, a 1940 East Aurora graduate, was killed in action while serving in the Marine Corp during World War II. Commander Michael M. Kerley, US Navy Retired, who is now the Senior Naval Science Instructor at EAHS, gave the keynote address. The unveiling was followed by a breakfast reception. The memorial is located at East Aurora High School on the Northeast corner of Ellis Stadium and reads “IN MEMORY OF ALL EAST AURORA VETERANS WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FIGHTING FOR OUR FREEDOM.”  Thank you to all our Veterans for your service to our country.

El jueves 9 de noviembre, EASD 131 inauguró un monumento en honor a los Veteranos del Este de Aurora que dieron su vida luchando por nuestra libertad. Este monumento fue inspirado por Pete Andrews, sobrino de Peter N. Andrews, graduado de East Aurora en 1940,que murió en combate mientras servía en el Cuerpo de Marines durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. El comandante Michael M. Kerley, retirado de la Marina de los EE. UU., quien ahora es el instructor senior de ciencias navales en EAHS, pronunció el discurso de apertura. Después de la presentación se ofreció un desayuno para los invitados. El monumento esta localizado en East Aurora High School, en la esquina noreste del estadio Ellis. Gracias a todos los veteranos por su servicio a nuestro país.
