NJROTC Annual Awards Night and Change of Command CeremonyLa Unidad NJROTC Celebró su Noche de Premios y Cambio de Mando Anual

East Aurora High School’s NJROTC unit held its annual Awards Night and Change of Command on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Cadets, families, D131 leadership, and community partners packed the Ernie Kivisto Memorial Gym to celebrate Tomcat Regimental success.

Over 20 medals and ribbons were awarded to recognize academic, athletic, and JROTC excellence. 

Officer Jason Woolsey, EAHS Campus Resource Officer from the Aurora Police Department, was awarded the Distinguished Citizen Medal from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. It is awarded to emergency first responders; emergency health responders, active-duty military, Veterans of the United States armed forces and citizens who have contributed to the defense and security of the community, state, or nation in an exceptional manner.

Thank you to Ms. Alejandra Hernandez from the Virginia based Association of Naval Services Officers for being the Keynote Speaker.

Community partners that sponsored awards included:
The Aurora Chapter of the Navy League of the United States, Surface Navy Association,
Elmhurst Illinois American Legion T. H. B. Post 187, Illinois AMVETS, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Sons of the American Revolution.

La unidad NJROTC de East Aurora High School celebró su Noche de Premios y Cambio de Mando anual el jueves 25 de abril de 2024. Cadetes, familias, líderes del D131 y socios comunitarios llenaron el Ernie Kivisto Memorial Gym para celebrar el éxito del Regimiento Tomcat.

Se entregaron más de 20 medallas y cintas para reconocer la excelencia académica, atlética y del JROTC. 

El oficial Jason Woolsey, oficial de recursos del campus de EAHS del Departamento de Policía de Aurora, recibió la Medalla de Ciudadano Distinguido de la Sociedad Nacional Hijas de la Revolución Americana. Se otorga a los socorristas de emergencia; personal de emergencias médicas, militares en servicio activo, veteranos de las fuerzas armadas de los Estados Unidos y ciudadanos que hayan contribuido a la defensa y seguridad de la comunidad, estado o nación de manera excepcional.

Un agradecimiento especial a nuestra oradora principal con sede en Virginia, la Sra. Alejandra Hernández de la Asociación de Oficiales de Servicios Navales.
