On November 14, the Tomcat Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) Program held its 2019 Annual Area Managers Inspection during the school day and evening Pass-In-Review Ceremony.
The cadets uniforms and overall administration of the NJROTC Program were inspected during the day by Captain Mike Flynn of the Naval Reserve NATO Detachment in Chicago. Sargent Christopher Hess and the soldiers of the local unit of the Army National Guard, also helped with the personnel inspection of approximately 600 cadets in uniform.
The evening events and program included: a VIP reception, regimental formation, arrival of the official party, presentation of colors, opening greetings and salutations and cadet creed.
Remarks were made from Principal Marina Kosak, School Board President Annette Johnson, Assistant Superintendent Steve Megazzini, Senior Naval Science Instructor Lieutenant Lauren K. Carthan, and Captain Mike Flynn.
The program events, activities, achievements and overall contributions to the students, high school, and community were praised throughout the day and evening by all speakers.


























Lieutenant Carthan and Captain Flynn served as reviewing officers as the senior classes and regimental staff’s hard work and dedication were honored as they marched and participated in the traditional custom of “eyes right” during the Pass-in-Review Ceremony.
Several of the NJROTC cadets performed including the Unarmed Exhibition, Armed Exhibition, and Dance, Drum, and Bugle Corps Teams. Cadet Jennifer Garcia won the “knockout competition” and received an award for her outstanding demonstration of military bearing. A special recognition and flowers were presented to long-time program supporters Mr. Bob Moga and his wife because of their hard work during the inception of the NJROTC program in 1996 which has continued throughout the years. The event was attended by approximately 1,000 people including but not limited to: community members, boosters, school board members, navy league, administrators, alumni, veterans, faculty, students, guests and parents.

En el transcurso del día el capitán Mike Flynn inspeccionó los uniformes de los cadetes y la administración general del programa NJROTC de la Reserva Naval de destacamento de la Organización del Tratado del Atlántico Norte (NATO por sus siglas en inglés) en Chicago. El sargento Christopher Hess y los soldados de la unidad local de la Guardia Nacional del Ejército, también ayudaron con la inspección del personal de aproximadamente 600 cadetes en uniforme.
Los eventos y programas de la tarde incluyeron: una recepción exclusiva, formación de regimiento, llegada del grupo oficial, la presentación de la bandera, los discursos de apertura, el saludo y credo del cadete.
Las menciones fueron por parte de la directora Marina Kosak, la presidente de la Junta Educativa Annette Johnson, el superintendente asistente Steve Megazzini, la instructora senior de ciencia naval teniente Lauren K. Carthan y el capitán Mike Flynn.
Los eventos, actividades, logros y contribuciones generales del programa para los estudiantes, la preparatoria y la comunidad fueron elogiados durante el día y tarde por todos los conferenciantes.
